Interactive Institute Swedish ICT is an experimental IT & design research institute in Sweden, dedicated to the creation of groundbreaking user experiences.
The institute offers expertise in interaction design, visualization, user behavior, sound design, games and entertainment. Interactive Institute is located in several cities all over Sweden and is owned by RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden) through Swedish ICT.
Since 2004, we have been located in the city of Eskilstuna, where we develop tools and artefacts that help people become more energy efficient. New design solutions are necessary in order to motivate people to change their behaviour in addition to new technology. We develop alternative objects and services that we study in real life settings.
Our group consists of an interdisciplinary team of designers, architects, social anthropologists, physiologist and engineers. Our research is oriented towards service design, explorative design, game development and behaviour studies within the field of energy saving and has resulted in many
innovative concepts and academic papers. Our partners are widely spread, representing academia, private sector and governmental organizations. The Swedish Energy Agency, Vinnova, Elforsk and the EU are main contributors in our research.
In this project, Interactive Institute Swedish ICT represents the researchers and the designers of the energy visualization solution. We bring great experience in the research area of energy visualization that creates energy awareness and behavioral changes towards a more efficient energy use. We create new and user focused design that gives feedback and engagement and we evaluate the solution in close contact with the users in real life settings.
